Six to eleven servings of grains sounds like a lot. Do I really need that much?

That may sound like a lot of servings- until you consider what size a serving is. One slice of bread equals one serving. One-half cup of cooked rice or cooked cereal or cooked pasta also equals one serving. When we eat spaghetti, we usually eat one to three cups of pasta. This would be two to six servings from the grains group.
Add a slice of garlic bread to the meal and you may have more than half or your daily needs for grains for the day.
