Choose a variety of grains daily, especially whole grains.

Grains include foods such as whole wheat, corn, oats, legumes, rice, barley, bulgur, quinoa and other similar foods. When selecting grains, it is best to choose whole grains like whole wheat flour and brown rice rather than white flour or white rice.  Selecting whole grains provides more fiber.

Grains provide vitamins such as niacin, thiamin, riboflavin, folate, and vitamin B6.  Grains also provide fiber and minerals such as zinc and iron. Grains should be the foundation of a healthy diet.
The USDA recommends between 6 and 11 grain servings every day for a healthy diet.
Six to eleven servings of grains sounds like a lot. Do I really need that much?
