Choose a variety of fruits and vegetables daily.

The Food Guide Pyramid recommends at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables each day. A serving size is 1/2 cup, 1 small piece of fruit, or 6 ounces of juice.
Choose fresh, frozen or canned vegetables and fruits.  Juices and dried fruits and vegetables and are also good choices. When choosing these plant foods, remember that more color often means more nutrients. Therefore dark green, red, purple, orange and yellow fruits and vegetables are loaded with wonderful vitamins, minerals, fiber, and water. 
Many of the vitamins and minerals found in fruits and vegetables act as antioxidants, which help prevent some chronic diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular disease.

I don't always eat fruits and vegetables. Can't I just take a vitamin supplement instead?
