What kind of exercise is best to lose weight?

No one exercise is better than another.  It is best to do a variety of exercises such as aerobic exercise, strength training, and stretching.  Each type of exercise yields different benefits to your health.
For example, aerobic exercise benefits the heart and circulatory system, strength training helps to strengthen or maintain the skeletal muscular system and stretching helps with flexibility and day-to-day functions.
However, weight loss is achieved from a combination of aerobic exercise and strength training.  Proper stretching should always follow both types of exercise to help improve flexibility and prevent injuries from occurring.  Aerobics assist with fat burning, which leads to weight loss, while strength training helps build lean body mass (or muscle).
An increase in muscle mass causes increased caloric expenditure even while you are at rest.  As you burn more calories on a daily basis, weight loss occurs.
